“End of the World” Sale: Friday the 21st

December 20th, 2012 1 comment

Dearest GFL Friends,

The Mayan Long Count Calendar has been misconstrued time and again as a harbinger of doomsday.  We might as well capitalize on this, right?  On Friday the 21st, come celebrate the apocalypse with a convenient pre-Christmas sale at Game Force Longmont.

Tomorrow only: 10% off all used games, systems, and accessories.

There’s more!  Buy any item, receive a special “END OF THE WORLD COOKIE” absolutely free!*

And remember, if by some odd chance the world does end, you won’t have to worry about all that credit card debt anyhow.

* While supplies last.  May actually just be Chips Ahoy.  Still, 1000 chips delicious ain’t bad.  Not retroactive.  Please don’t take the end of the world rabble seriously.

That’s a big week

September 5th, 2011 Comments off

Sometimes, a week comes so jam-packed with new releases that no one is quite sure to make of it.  This may well be one of those weeks.  Indeed, weeks of this variety are frequently in October and November, seeking to capitalize on holiday sales.  This one, on the other hand, seems perched to derail the study plans of students as they go back to classes for the fall.  Whatever the awesome/sinister reason for the timing, this week is going to be a big one.

Some of the big new releases arriving at GFL on Wednesday, September 7:

Dead Island – PS3, Xbox 360
Disgaea 4 – PS3
Driver: San Francisco – PS3, Xbox 360
Resistance 3 – PS3
Rise of Nightmares – Xbox 360
Space Marine (Warhammer 40k) – PS3, 360
Star Fox 64 3D – 3DS

Next Shipment: Friday

Slow-ish week as far as new releases are concerned. For those who’ve asked, the ever-peculiar, relationship-based survival horror / action adventure / QTE-insanity game “Catherine” will show up on our doorstep this Friday.  It’s available on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.  Also expect some refreshing restock alongside that shipment.

Supreme Court Ruling Expected Today

June 27th, 2011 Comments off

Good morning, Game Force Longmont shoppers and political types.  The Supreme Court is expected to issue its long-anticipated ruling today dealing with violent video games.  At issue is the legality of state laws that bar sales of M Rated games to people under 18.  California in specific wants to make it illegal to sell or rent M Rated titles to underage shoppers.  The industry generally believes that it’s up to parents and individual families to decide what’s appropriate, while certain consumer groups and state legislatures believe that more regulation is needed.  We expect that by the end of the day, there will be a clear ruling on what kind of regulation our business can expect.
